Silence

By Beatriz Salcedo-Strumpf

I fell in love with you
Forever
One Paris afternoon
on a warm day
in the splendor of summer.
We went on different paths
nothing was ever the same
for me
I returned
full of lights
and happiness
Owned by the soft garden
that you planted in
my heart
You stayed
for a long time in Paris.
Our letters crossed the ocean
for more than
a thousand days
Your words stopped
one sad day
your heart
refused to love me
Or did it love me
how can I know?
We both followed
different paths
Three decades
have passed
since then
Fate reunite us
And once again
We celebrate the miracle.
But once again
You choose silence
And my only option
is to pursue with
my happiness
